Status of Water and Power Industry in Iran between 20 of August till 20 of September 2020 (Iranian calendar) are shown in five Sections: Water, Wastewater, Electricity, Renewable Energies and Debt and Liabilities Section as below:
Water section
• The height of rainfall in the whole country has decreased by 7% compared to the same time last year.
• The volume of water in the reservoirs of dams in the whole country by the end of September 2020, compared to last month, has decreased by 10.5 percent.
• The volume of water entering the reservoir dams of the whole country has decreased by 3.6% compared to last month.
• The volume of water output from reservoirs of dams in the whole country has decreased by 7% compared to last month.
• The volume of water saved from wells has decreased by 16.8% compared to last month.
• Energy production of hydropower plants in September 2020 compared to last month, has decreased by 36.6 percent.
• The number of permitted wells in September 2020 (519147) has increased by 0.1 percent compared to the same time in September 2019 (518717).
Water and Sewerage Department
• Changes in water subscribers, length of water distribution network and length of water transmission lines in the urban sector at the end of September 2020 compared to the previous month, were 0.2, 0.04 and 0.02 percent, respectively.
• Changes in water subscribers in the rural sector at the end of September 2020 compared to the previous month, was 0.1 percent.
• The amount of water produced (total groundwater and surface) at the end of September 2020 compared to the previous month, in urban and rural areas has increased by 20 and 25 percent, respectively.
• The ratio of household consumption to total consumption at the end of September 2020 compared to the previous month (79%), has increased by 3%.
Electricity department
• Energy received and sent by the end of August 2020, compared to the previous month, increased by 24 and 26 percent, respectively.
• Electricity consumption in the industrial sector (36%) was higher than other consumption cases by the end of July 2020. By the end of September 2020, the country's specific electricity production had increased by 22% compared to the end of August 2020.
• Operation of new power plant units by the end of September 2020 compared to the end of August 2020, has increased by 40.5 percent.
• The country's specific electricity production has increased by 22% by the end of September 2020 compared to the end of August 2020.
Energy sector
• The total capacity of renewable and clean power plants by the end of September 2020 compared to last month (835 MW), has increased by 0.1 percent. This increase is related to photovoltaic power plants.
• The amount of electricity generated from renewable sources in September 2020 compared to the previous month, has decreased by 6%.
• Avoidance of greenhouse gas emissions has decreased by 6% in September 2020 compared to the previous month.
Debt and Liabilities Section
• The debts of Tavanir Company have decreased by 0.6% until the end of July 2020 compared to the end of March 2020.
• The debts of the thermal power company have increased by 6.3% until the end of August 2020 compared to the end of April 2020.
• The debts of Iran Water Resources Management Company have increased by 15.3% by the end of August 2020 compared to the end of March 2020.
• The debts of the country's water and sewage engineering company have increased by 18.6% by the end of September 2020 compared to the end of June 2019.
• The total debt of the Ministry of Energy has increased by 8.6% compared to the information provided in the May 2020 report on water and electricity industry statistics (excluding the ABFA sector).
